When people think of Utah politics, they usually picture one thing: an unyielding, predictable sea of red. For decades, national commentators have treated the Beehive State as a monolith of traditional conservatism.

But if you actually live here you know that narrative is missing half the story.

There is an undeniable, vibrant blue undercurrent surging through the high desert. Utah’s progressive community isn’t just surviving; it’s thriving, innovating, and quietly redefining what it means to create community.

Today, we are launching ProgresSLC to give that movement a permanent megaphone.

To understand the political landscape of Utah, you have to look at the numbers and the geography. Salt Lake City has long stood as a fiercely progressive urban core. From defending fair electoral maps and fighting for clean air to cultivating one of the most vibrant LGBTQ+ communities in the country, local organizers and advocates have proven that Utahns are deeply invested in equity, sustainability, and community care.

But this energy isn’t confined to a single zip code. Across the Wasatch Front, a growing coalition of independent creators, forward-thinking small businesses, grassroots non-profits, and mutual aid networks are doing the heavy lifting to make our state a more inclusive place to live.

The challenge isn’t a lack of progressive values in Utah. The challenge is isolation.

Because our political supermajorities dominate the state capitol, progressive organizations, local artists, and impact-driven businesses often find themselves operating in silos. They have the passion, the talent, and the vision—but they often lack the shared infrastructure to scale their impact.

That is exactly why we built ProgresSLC. We don’t believe fundraising should feel like a chore, and we don’t believe community building should happen in a vacuum.

ProgresSLC is a for-profit social enterprise designed to act as the collaborative connective tissue for Utah’s progressive ecosystem. Our mission is simple: We bring businesses, creators, and non-profits together to raise money and exposure for causes that matter.

The political tides in Utah are shifting, driven by a generation of folks who care deeply about affordable housing, reproductive freedom, climate justice, and the arts. Change won’t happen overnight from the top down—it’s going to happen from the ground up, fueled by the businesses we support, the art we create, and the communities we build.
